Use the Guitar Mode Wheel to help learn musical scales and modes on the guitar. You can familiarize yourself with the sound of specific modes within scales as well as use the fretboard display to help you learn positions of various scale notes.
The Guitar Mode Wheel features a “circle of fifths” which you can drag clockwise or counter clockwise. You can use this to learn the various half/whole step positions of modes and scales; drag the circle to choose the mode (indicated at bottom of screen), then touch the letters of the scale to hear the sound of the scale. When a note is selected on the wheel the fretboard display is updated to show the positions of the notes (also, when a note is selected on the fretboard it is highlighted on the wheel.
The fretboard is a display of the frets of the guitar. The display shows 5 strings of the guitar and the first several frets relative to the scale you've chosen. The grey dots (note indicators) are specific positions on the fretboard in which you can find notes of the scales. Note that the roots of the chosen scale are indicated by squares drawn around the note indicators.
